Well I've returned to Houston for a couple of weeks whilst Tjaart continues his campaign on The Asian Tour and also returns to South Africa for a couple of tournaments on The Sunshine Tour. We had fun in Asia, after our week in Koh Samui we passed through Bangkok for a couple of nights to hook up with our friend, Guy Palling, before heading south to Hua Hin (approximately 2 hours south of Bangok). We based ourselves there for 3 weeks, a luxury to be in one place for so long... !! It was great for Tjaart to practice as he had the facilities at the awesome Black Mountain golf course at his disposal. He also got involved in the 'local' Ryder Cup in Hua Hin, he played in the Rest of the World Team against the Swedish. It was 3 days of fun golf after all he has to have some fun whilst working!
After our 3 week stint in Hua Hin we headed to Malaysia to a town called Ipoh and we stayed at the Clearwater Golf Sanctuary, initially Tjaart was to play in a small local event there but unfortunately it was cancelled, we still spent a few days there and Tjaart put in some good work on the links.
We then headed to Shah Alam, 20 minutes outside of Kuala Lumpur, for Tjaart to settle in for The Selangor Masters. I returned to Houston after a couple of days there so unfortunately that meant I couldn't caddy for Tjaart. It's always tricky for me when he's playing a tournament and I'm in another time zone... this time it's a 13 hour time difference, so you can imagine how my sleep patterns have been affected, but oh SO worth it, especially when he's playing so well. I'm so proud of him as always, finishing T8 - I have a feeling the W is around the corner!
Tjaart heads back to SA tomorrow morning (Sunday 24 July) to prepare for the Vodacom Origins tournament at Simola Golf Estate in Knysna. It's a 3 day event so hopefully he can keep the jet lag at bay for those 3 days and then relax a little with his parents who live close to Knysna. At least Tjaart will also get to enjoy some home comforts whilst playing.
After the next week's tournament he heads to the Wild Coast mid-August for another Vodacom Origins event. I have no doubt he's looking forward to stepping on SA soil once again. It has been a quiet couple of months on The Asian & Sunshine Tours but it's starting to pick up in the second half of the year so lots to watch/follow Tjaart-fans!
Thanks again to all of you who support Tjaart in his golf career, I most definitely know he appreciates it so much.
