We had a great week in Scotland last week at Gleneagles and it has to be one of the first times that I haven't had to use a brolly on the course, so thank you Mother Nature for that! Tjaart played some great golf last week and I can see the momentum starting to build now for a strong last few months of the year. We actually stayed in a house just off the course last week which made it possible for us to have home-cooked food which I know Tjaart enjoys and especially when he can 'make a fire' and braai a couple of chops himself. His composure on the course last week at Gleneagles made me super proud as he had to be very patient after a tricky start on Thursday - but he showed true professionalism and patience and pulled it back to a respectable score of +1 at the end of his round. He again displayed some awesome golf during round 2 after hitting a bit of a speed bump with 5 holes to go, but I could sense a 'fire in his belly' after a very unwelcome double bogey and he came home strong to make the cut.
As I've mentioned before we love working over weekends in this business and I was very happy to set our alarm clock on Saturday morning for a 9.20am tee-off. It was a steady weekend all in all and Sunday was a little disappointing for Tjaart as he didn't finish as strong as he'd hoped for. The main thing is that he's feeling very optimistic and he knows this game well and that Rome wasn't built in one day. The momentum is going in the right direction and that's what counts.
We're in Crans Montana for the Omega Masters. Tjaart was fortunate to get into the field this week through the Asian Tour (it's a co-sanctioned event). This is an AMAZING place, the views from the course are just breath-taking. We had a mad dash from Scotland to here as we needed to get to the course for the Monday afternoon pro-am. It felt like an episode from The Amazing Race - a plane, train and automobile trip later we got to the course with 50 minutes to spare. I was on the bag for the pro-am as Andreas, Tjaart's caddy, was still 'in transit' and it was a decent walk with the BIG bag. Luckily I got a good caddy tip from the boss ;-)
So that meant that Tuesday, today, was a rest day for Tjaart - well an active rest day, as it still included a workout and physio treatment. Tomorrow is practice day and then Tjaart kicks it off in the afternoon on Thursday.
I'm looking forward to my walk this week and will be SUPER happy to be doing the walk 4 times!!
Thanks to all of you who support Tjaart each week, every email, Tweet, text message, sms etc is hugely appreciated. He tries to entertain you all each week that he plays and especially over weekends!
