WOW, it has taken 12.5 hours for two rounds of golf over the past two days!!! As a typical runner I try to equate that to running, and I couldn't help thinking today that an average runner could complete at least 3 marathons in that time! Silly I know, but it's crazy what can occupy my mind outside the ropes some days. I do love Greenville and what keeps it even more interesting on the golf front is that the 1st 3 rounds are played at 3 different courses. Yesterday at Bright's Creek was a good walk and I felt like a mountain goat at the end of it, today at Thornblade wasn't as hilly but a pretty walk with some beautiful homes on the course, tomorrow we head off to the Carolina Country Club. It's a charity pro-am this week and the field has a number of 'celebs' playing too, in Tjaart's group he has the 2007 winner of The Apprentice playing. Kurt Russell is out there somewhere but haven't spotted him and for the Lost fans out there, Terry O'Quinn (John Locke) is playing too.
On Monday, whilst grabbing a quick bite to eat, my ears were clearly flapping as I heard a SA accent, and felt the need to tell the owner of the accent that we too were South African. A couple of introductions later and we met Marlon Niemand who has lived in Greenville for the past 14 years. He invited us to their lovely home for supper last night and we met his divine wife, Linda, and an American friend of theirs, John. Linda whipped up a delicious supper for us and we had such a lovely evening with them and got a little better acquainted. They are awesome, and I really hope we can stay in contact going forward. Marlon came out to support Tjaart on the course today too - which is always 'lekker' !
It's an early start tomorrow at the Carolina CC so I'm not going to blog for too long as it's almost bed time. The plan is to go super low tomorrow and then we'll be back at Thornblade GC on Sunday for the final round.
Thanks to all who follow Tjaart and give him your support!
We both appreciate it BIG time,
Vicki
