I really do believe that Summer is the forgotten season in Europe! I know the whole topic of weather is pretty boring but WOW, I am COLD!!!
We have been on the road for 4 weeks now and have covered some ground once again. We have both seen a couple of new places and last week was back to beautiful and expensive :-) Sweden and we're in Austria this week.
The course (last week) at Bro Hoff Slott GC in Sweden is absolutely beautiful and a great walk outside the ropes too. The back nine holes can be a little 'scary' to watch as there is a lot of water around. Tjaart played SO well, and he is hitting some shots again that I haven't seen for a while, but he just couldn't get that little white ball in the hole and ended up missing the cut. He has been putting (no pun intended) a lot of hard work in, on and off the course, and I just know that it will all come together soon soon.
This game is crazy and can drive you mad... and I think that the critical thing to remember it's not a case of life-or-death, yes it's important to give it your ALL and walk off the 18th green each day that you play knowing you did, one has to accept that sometimes it just doesn't go your way but some days it does! Yes, it can be stressful being outside the ropes and often strangers that I meet week to week will say to me, "I don't know how you do this, I feel more nervous than the golfers". I refuse to do that, it's hard, but I refuse. It doesn't help Tjaart, me being stressed out outside the ropes, what helps is to just keep smiling, encouraging him and giving him claps and the odd 'whoop whoop' after a good shot/putt/hole.
I've had a lot of time to think over the last month whilst walking around golf courses and time to contemplate - my best friend is fighting the battle of her life, cancer, and it has put so much into perspective for me. Ironically I have spent 2 snowboarding trips to Austria with my dear Nikki and I find myself here this week with her even closer to me in my heart.
Yes, we want to keep fighting each week out on the golf course, but do we need to take it THAT seriously. We have our health, we have each other and we're so blessed to be able to 'do this job' together. We're not playing for our lives, so it's good to remind each other that we need to have to keep having fun out here together. NIKKI HAYNES.. you inspire me, you inspire us... and I dedicate this blog to you! And we're going to give it horns out on the golf course for you this week. We love you!
