To say Tjaart was disappointed not to make the cut in Malaysia this week would be an understatement.
He played some good golf on the back 9 on Saturday morning (round two) but two horrible double bogeys did too much damage to his scorecard. The first one appeared from nowhere on the par 3 11th hole - he hit a great shot off the tee with his 4 iron but the wind was deceptive up at the green and his ball hit 'a wall' and dropped into the water - YUK! The negative momentum carried onto the 12th hole with a weak shot out of a fairway bunker and again the ball landed in the water - and just like that he went from -1 to +3.
Ever the professional, Tjaart held his composure and produced a couple of birdies and gave himself more birdie opportunities on 17 and 18 but the putting gods weren't on his side and he didn't manage to convert either putt. He finished at +1 for the tournament, one shot shy of the cut.
However it's all about bounce-back-ability, and he's already feeling motivated for next week's tournament in Jakarta, Indonesia. The temperatures will be steamy once again but at least the jet lag is out of the way!
